LEARNING FROM PAST EVENTS

For an excellent set of resources, see the report Learning from Recovery (50 pp.) and several additional useful documents on the same site. The Long-term Recovery Platform (2007) was sponsored by Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC), International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR) secretariat and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Based on the experience in Aceh, Indonesia, these resources should be useful in Haiti and other places as well.

For a personal account of the positive outcomes in Aceh, see this news report, which compares the Aceh recovery characteristics with those in Haiti.

NEWS CLIPS

The single best source for aggregated new clips is the site maintained by the MCEER Information Services staff, in my opinion. That site has a special page for the Haiti event and now the Chile earthquake.
